Introduction to YCU


 

Yayasan Canselor Universiti Tenaga Nasional (YCU) was established on 2 June 2009 by Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) to receive and administer funds for the purpose of promoting education or any charitable purposes. In fulfilling this main agenda, building endowment fund through various short and long-term fund-raising initiatives will be part of YCU’s continuous effort.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

YCU plays a major role in the UNITEN group financial ecosystem through its contributions for dermasiswa, research & development, student activities, teaching and learning activities and as well as helping the communities. These roles are in line with YCU objectives as stipulated in YCU Trust Deed.

 

 

 

 

 

 

YCU takes pride to be named after UNITEN’s esteemed chancellors. YCU was officially launched in 2011 by the former UNITEN chancellor; Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Dato’ Seri Utama (Dr.) Haji Abdul Rahman bin Abbas. Continuing the legacy of excellence, Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Dato' Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi bin Haji Abdul Razak, Penang's eighth Yang di-Pertua Negeri, has been appointed as UNITEN’s chancellor in 2022.

 

 

 

 

 

 

YCU has contributed to providing financial aid for education to deserving students from low to middle-income families in realizing their dreams and their greatest goals. Over the years, YCU has raised awareness among philanthropists (corporations and individuals) and attracted them to participate in this noble cause as well as to promote a positive brand image of philanthropists.

 

Objective of YCU


 

YCU’s roles are to secure, manage and distribute funds for education, research, student activities, and grant donations to local organizations approved by the Director-General of Inland Revenue. These objectives are stipulated in the Trust Deed.
Organizational functions of YCU are structured to achieve the objectives of YCU and has been approved by the YCU Board of Trustees. Six main functions of YCU:
